This dynamic 1960s linen and silk abstract print maxi dress is unlabelled, although its magnificent construction reveals that it is demi-couture and probably made by a leading designer of the era. The linen overlay features a striking abstract design in mauve, lime green, indigo and pink, which plays over the fabric at a diagonal in jagged, un-uniform shapes. There is a satin piped seam in deep mauve that trims the round neckline, arm-holes and waistband. The dress is a simple shift cut which draws in at the waist with a straight floor length skirt which follows the natural line of the hip and is comprised of a series of panels that separate just below the knee into broad set tassels to meet the hem. It is fully lined in pale mauve silk graduating to deep indigo at the hem, and has a central zip fastening at the reverse. This bold, vivacious piece is beautifully made and in excellent vintage condition. Would fit up to US size 4, UK size 8.
